Will Bride & Prejudice: The Forbidden Weddings be the most talked about program of 2017 as Seven promises?
The Seven Network has confirmed its readying a local version of the A&E format Brides & Prejudice to air in early 2017.
With the strapline The Forbidden Weddings, a newly released teaser features a prejudiced mother totally opposed to her son’s planned marriage. The reason – she doesn’t want her son to ever marry and declares that at 18 and 20 years of age said son and girlfriend are too young.
“She’s a spoilt brat, I just don’t want this wedding to happen,” the mother says in a piece to camera.
Seven said it was planning “contraversial” new show “that will be the most talked about program of 2017” at its NewFronts presentation in November . It put out a casting call in June, “looking for couples that are in diverse, multicultural or progressive relationships that believe that against all odds they are destined for one another.”
A new format from A&E Networks, Bride &Prejudice premiered on FYI TV in the US in April. Its local version joins the relationship-car crash- social experiment shows increasingly filling commercial free to air prime time that includes Nine’s Married at First Sight, and Seven’s First Dates and Seven Year Switch.
